Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with almost no wind to speak of with the glass holding level. Give the seam between weed and open water the first hour at Lac Aubinot. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Laurentides, Quebec, is where Lac Aubinot sits. The country here is mixed forest. About 6 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Rivière-Rouge lies 30 km from the water. After that come Labelle at 41 km and La Minerve at 49 km. Near neighbours: Lac Higginson after 1 km, Lac Mazet about 2.2 km, Lac des Jesuites after 2.3 km, Lac Grasmere about 2.5 km and Lac Velines after 2.5 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Lac Aubinot the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Between January at about -15°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. The season on Lac Aubinot follows the weather closely.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac Higginson sits 1 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Aubinot for certain.
