No direct sun expected today, with an easy breeze from the SSE and pressure going nowhere. Start the search at Lac au Sable along the shallows early and the drop later. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the evening. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

In Quebec, Lac au Sable falls inside Abitibi-Témiscamingue. It sits at 328 metres above sea level. Small at around 7 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Head to Macamic, 33 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Amos (36 km) and La Sarre (48 km). Within a short drive: Lac Doyon 2.2 km away, Lac Lyonnais at 6.4 km, Lac Taschereau 9.6 km away, Lac Robertson at 11 km and Lac a la Savane 12 km away. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Lac au Sable the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -19°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. At Lac au Sable the season follows that pattern closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. If the gate is shut, Lac Doyon at 2.2 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing here settles the position at Lac au Sable for certain.
