Solid cloud cover today, with a kind S breeze on the water and pressure sitting still. On Lac Aropel, work the weed line and any gaps in it first. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Quebec holds Lac Aropel, in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. Boreal forest runs right down to the water. The water covers some 11 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The whole outline is near 1.7 km, and most of it is walkable. The nearest town is Normandin, 60 km away. Albanel is 64 km and Saint-Félicien 74 km. Near neighbours: Lac Vein (0.5 km), Lac Dorier 1 km away, Lac Thibeault (1.4 km), Lac du Poisson Blanc 1.9 km away and Lac Livet (2 km). No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac Aropel gives up more to patience than to distance.
Between January at about -18°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. On Lac Aropel that shapes the whole year.
Public data does not answer the access question here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac Vein sits 0.5 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Aropel in particular, ask before you travel.
