Solid cloud cover today, with calm air over the water with the glass holding level. Expect most activity at Lac Arapat around the calm side of the wind. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for Lac Arapat in the Lanaudière part of Quebec. It sits at 423 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 9 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Start from Manawan, 34 km down the road. Further out sit Weymontachie (55 km) and Leblanc (88 km). Water in the same corner: Lac Solignac 1.2 km, Lac Vic a touch under 5.7 km, Lac Luc 6.2 km, Lac Fitz a touch under 6.4 km and Lac Boudreau 6.5 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Open biodiversity records for Lanaudière list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. At Lac Arapat the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -16°C in January. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near late November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Lac Arapat runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. For a change of water, Lac Solignac is 1.2 km distant. Signs at Lac Arapat carry more weight than any list.
