A closed sky with even light today, with a firm SSW blow and steady pressure. The productive water at Lac Antoine will be around reed fringes and open pockets. Everything points to the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Antoine is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, Quebec side. The bank gives way to taiga. With some 40 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Bank access stretches around 3.8 km in total. It ranks high for size among our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean listings. The closest town, Normandin, is 42 km away. Saint-Félicien follows at 43 km, then Albanel at 50 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Lac Antoine gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Climate records put July near 16°C and January near -18°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Expect Lac Antoine to follow that timing.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Lac Rabouin, 1.1 km away. Check the position at Lac Antoine before loading the car.
