No direct sun expected today, with a busy SSW wind on the open water and pressure sitting still. Give inflow corners and shaded margins the first hour at Lac Anode. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Anode is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, in Quebec. Height above sea level is 469 metres. Small at around 6 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. For supplies, Leblanc is 70 km out. For a city, Saguenay is 213 km off. In the same area: Lac Cathode a shade over 1.1 km, Lac des Pois within 1.2 km, Lac Diode a shade over 1.3 km, Lac Roisnay within 1.5 km and Lac de la Soupe a shade over 1.7 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Lac Anode the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Between January at about -18°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Anode.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. If the gate is shut, Lac Cathode at 1.1 km is the nearest alternative. The position on Lac Anode is worth confirming on the day.
