Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with barely a breath of wind and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac Amignon should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Amignon sits within Abitibi-Témiscamingue in Quebec. Around the bank it is pine and birch. With some 80 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. At about 6.5 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. Size puts it in the front rank of our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list. Nearest place of any size is Val-d'Or, 88 km away. Beyond it, Malartic at 92 km and Saint-Isidore at 101 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Anyone new to Lac Amignon should walk it once before setting up.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -16°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Lac Amignon runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Access is not recorded for this water. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac de Niort at 2.3 km is the sensible second choice. The position on Lac Amignon is worth confirming on the day.
