Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a faint SSW drift and the barometer holding steady. Whatever swims in Lac Altud should be near the shaded margin through bright spells. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Altud lies within the bounds of Outaouais, Quebec. The land about it is rolling bush. It covers about 9 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Nearest town is Saint-Boniface, 56 km off. Maniwaki follows at 66 km, then Saint-Raphaël at 74 km. Others within reach: Lac Gill at about 1.8 km, Lac Fraser about 1.8 km, Lac Snaith at about 3 km, Lac Danis about 3.2 km and Lac Mackie at about 3.9 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Reported across Outaouais: pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. At Lac Altud light and wind decide more than tackle does.
The warm month here averages 17°C; the cold one sits at -16°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. On average, late April opens the water and late November closes it again. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Plan around that when you fish Lac Altud.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Fishing from a pier is possible 1.4 km away. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Gill, 1.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback.
