A wet system passing over today, with a whisper of wind from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Give any hard bottom among the soft the first hour at Lac Alroy. Little to get excited about, though the morning holds a sliver of promise. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Alroy belongs to Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. It sits at 400 metres above sea level. Surface area runs to about 8 hectares — small enough to read in one session. Head to Senneterre, 110 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Ferme-Neuve (124 km) and Val-d'Or (126 km). Close by you have: Lac Larderet at 1.5 km, Lac Watou at about 1.7 km, Lac Osmond at 2.5 km, Lac Poperinghe at about 2.9 km and Lac Eric at 3.1 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Lac Alroy the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -18°C. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Lac Alroy runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Larderet, 1.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Lac Alroy should be assumed from this page alone.
