Solid cloud cover today, with dead-still conditions with a settled glass. Whatever swims in Lac Allard should be near points where shallow meets deep. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Allard is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue waters in Quebec. The bank is 305 metres above sea level. Supplies mean a trip to Saint-Isidore, 38 km off. Greater Sudbury is the closest city, 191 km away. Other water nearby: Lac Kelly 1.9 km away, Lac au Canot at 3.3 km, Lac Morand 4.3 km away, Lac Paradis at 4.4 km and Lac au Vent 4.5 km away. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Across Abitibi-Témiscamingue, recorded fish include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On Lac Allard the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The warmest month averages 18°C, the coldest about -16°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Expect Lac Allard to follow that timing.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. A pier or jetty stands 710 m away, which helps on a crowded bank. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac Kelly at 1.9 km is the sensible second choice. Rules at Lac Allard are worth checking on the day.
