An even grey lid over the water, with the surface near flat and pressure going nowhere. Give the first drop-off and weed lines the first hour at Lac Aldrich. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Aldrich is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue listings for Quebec. It stands 463 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 50 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Around 5.7 km of bank, which is a long day on foot. Leblanc at 96 km is the nearest place to stop. Beyond it, Senneterre at 124 km and Manawan at 135 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker among the fish reported. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. On Lac Aldrich that means starting tight and working out.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -18°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Lac Aldrich fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Drylog, 1.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Lac Aldrich is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
