Wet weather working through today, with the water lying quiet with the barometer flat. Expect most activity at Lac Ade around points where shallow meets deep. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

You will find Lac Ade in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The surroundings are taiga. Start from Chibougamau, 80 km down the road. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 214 km away. Close by you have: Lac Barlieu the better part of 1.4 km, Lac Narp (1.9 km), Lac Sarrazac the better part of 1.9 km, Lac Valdoie (2.1 km) and Lac Dol the better part of 2.1 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Lac Ade fishes better once you know its edges.
Temperature averages peak at 16°C in July and bottom out at -19°C in January. Winter owns most of the year at this latitude. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. That is the shape of the year on Lac Ade.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Lac Barlieu, 1.4 km away. Treat Lac Ade as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
