A grey, even sky over the water, with light air out of the SW and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lac Adanac along points where shallow meets deep. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

You will find Lac Adanac in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. It sits in boreal forest. At roughly 8 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Senneterre sits 98 km from here and is the nearest stop. After that come Barraute at 125 km and Val-d'Or at 125 km. Others worth noting: 3 km out stands Lac Peacock, Lac Horace 3.2 km away, 3.6 km out stands Lac Willey, Lac du Nord 3.8 km away and 3.9 km out stands Lac Fisken. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Records held for Abitibi-Témiscamingue cover northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac Adanac the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Plan around that when you fish Lac Adanac.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac Peacock, 3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Lac Adanac if anything is unclear.
