Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a busy S wind on the open water with the glass holding level. Expect most activity at Lac Aberdeen around shallow cover and weed edges. The day fishes best from night into morning. Pick two or three spots and rotate them. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Aberdeen sits within Mauricie in Quebec. It lies 430 metres above sea level. At some 1.24 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. The shoreline runs about 11 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. Size puts it in the front rank of our Mauricie list. La Tuque is the closest town at 61 km. After that come Laurentides at 69 km and Métabetchouan at 70 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch among the fish reported. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Lac Aberdeen gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -16°C in January. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. On Lac Aberdeen the same rules apply, with local timing.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. For a change of water, Lac Micheline is 0.7 km distant. Treat Lac Aberdeen as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
