Dull, settled light over the water, with dead-still conditions and the barometer holding steady. The productive water at Lac Ababa will be around sheltered bays and points. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Ababa is one of the Mauricie listings for Quebec. The land about it is northern bush. It measures about 12 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The whole outline is near 2.2 km, and most of it is walkable. For a base, Leblanc sits 86 km out. Further out sit Manawan (120 km) and Weymontachie (125 km). No border sits close enough to matter.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. The county list is broader than any single water. Fish Lac Ababa to its features, not to its size.
Between January at about -18°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Time your trip to Lac Ababa by conditions rather than dates.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Should this one be busy, Lac Errol is 1.5 km off. Ask locally about Lac Ababa if anything is unclear.
