A closed sky with even light today, with light air out of the S with a settled glass. The water to cover at Lac a Ouellette is any hard bottom among the soft. One clear peak today: the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Laurentides in Quebec is where Lac an Ouellette sits. The land about it is lake country bush. It runs to roughly 12 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The bank runs about 1.7 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. For a base, Rivière-Rouge sits 5.6 km out. Beyond it, Labelle at 14 km and La Minerve at 19 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Reported across Laurentides: pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Fish Lac an Ouellette to its features, not to its size.
The year swings from about -14°C in January to roughly 18°C in July. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Lac an Ouellette fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac a Paul-Savard sits 2.8 km off and takes the overflow. Signs at Lac an Ouellette carry more weight than any list.
