Full sun on the water today, with a faint SSW drift with the glass holding level. On Lac a Larche, work the seam between weed and open water first. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Within Outaouais, Quebec, you have Lac a Larche. Elevation runs to 209 metres. It measures about 34 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. About 3.9 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Few waters listed in Outaouais are bigger. 12 km away sits Saint-Raphaël, the nearest town. Further out sit Maniwaki (22 km) and Saint-Boniface (32 km). It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. The county list is broader than any single water. Lac a Larche fishes better once you know its edges.
The warm month here averages 19°C; the cold one sits at -14°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. At Lac a Larche the season follows that pattern closely.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. For a change of water, Lac a Rochon is 1.2 km distant. For Lac a Larche, the notice at the access point is the final word.
