Overcast skies today, with a gentle ripple from the NNE and no real change in pressure. On Lac a la Truite, work inflow corners and shaded margins first. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the evening. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac a la Truite lies within the bounds of Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec. The setting is pine and birch. At about 14 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. There is roughly 1.9 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. Sainte-Anne-des-Monts is the closest town at 15 km. Saguenay sits 354 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Open biodiversity records for Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine list American eel, striped bass, alewife and rainbow smelt. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Read Lac a la Truite for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
The seasonal spread runs -15°C to 16°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Break-up near early May, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Time your trip to Lac a la Truite by conditions rather than dates.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac a Foin, 0.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac a la Truite, the notice at the access point is the final word.
