A closed sky with even light today, with a light SSW breeze and no real change in pressure. Start the search at Lac a la Perchaude along the seam between weed and open water. The day peaks in the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Within Capitale-Nationale, Quebec, you have Lac a la Perchaude. The setting is mixed forest on every side. At about 18 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. A shoreline of some 2.8 km keeps the choices simple. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Quebec listings. The closest town, Saint-Ubalde, is 3 km away. Sainte-Thècle follows at 17 km, then Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade at 20 km. The county edge is within a short distance of the bank.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Fish documented in Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac a la Perchaude repays a walk before the first cast.
The seasonal spread runs -14°C to 19°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Break-up sits around late April on average, with the water closing again about late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. That is the shape of the year on Lac a la Perchaude.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. If the gate is shut, Petit lac Rond at 5.2 km is the nearest alternative. Confirm access to Lac a la Perchaude locally before you travel.
