A hard blow across the water today, with heavy gusts out of the WNW and pressure going nowhere. Whatever swims in Lac a Francis should be near the first drop-off and weed lines. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Night
Lac a Francis lies in Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine, in Quebec. The ground around here is lake country bush. Roughly 14 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. About 1.9 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Gaspé is the closest place, 69 km off. The big place round here is Saguenay, 436 km distant. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Public occurrence data for Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine names American eel, striped bass, alewife, rainbow smelt and brook trout. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac a Francis the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -13°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. From about early May to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Lac a Francis runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. If the gate is shut, Petit lac de l'Est at 0.9 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing on Lac a Francis should be assumed from this page alone.
