Solid cloud cover today, with just enough WSW wind to ripple the surface and the barometer holding steady. The productive water at Lac a Bobine will be around the first drop-off and weed lines. Block out the hours from night into morning. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are.

Lac a Bobine is one of the Côte-Nord listings for Quebec. The sea is 20 km distant. It measures about 65 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The shoreline runs about 11 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. Supplies mean a trip to Havre-Saint-Pierre, 28 km off. Gaspé follows at 196 km, then Maliotenam at 203 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name logperch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Lac a Bobine gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Average temperature peaks around 15°C in July and bottoms out near -15°C in January. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac a Bobine.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac du Petit Bateau sits 1.4 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Lac a Bobine for certain.
