Patchy cloud drifting through today, with hardly a ripple anywhere and pressure sitting still. Fish at White Pine Lake should hold close to inflow corners and shaded margins. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Set in Renfrew County, White Pine Lake is an Ontario water. The country round it is lake country bush from end to end. At roughly 5 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. On size it sits at the modest end of our Renfrew County list. Start from Petawawa, 25 km down the road. Chalk River lies 30 km off, Pembroke another 34 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Reported across Renfrew County: smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. The shape of White Pine Lake rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -13°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Time your trip to White Pine Lake by conditions rather than dates.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Failing this one, try Beechnut Lake, 1.2 km away. None of that is settled for White Pine Lake in what we hold.
