A closed sky with even light today, with a light W breeze with a settled glass. Most of the action on Weeduck Lake should come off windblown banks where food collects. If you must go, go in the morning. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Set in Sudbury, Weeduck Lake is an Ontario water. The bank is 380 metres above sea level. Around 23 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The bank runs about 2.9 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. The town to know is Timmins, 109 km out. Greater Sudbury sits 139 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Fish documented in Sudbury include smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, Iowa darter and walleye. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Read Weeduck Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
The year swings from about -16°C in January to roughly 17°C in July. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. On Weeduck Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Failing this one, try Cote Lake, 1.5 km away. For Weeduck Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
