A wide-open sky and strong sun today, with a soft SSW wind with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Waymuk Lake should come off points where shallow meets deep. Make the morning the heart of the trip. Ride the conditions while they last. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Waymuk Lake in the Nipissing District part of Ontario. This is lake country bush country. It measures about 18 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The edge runs 3.5 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. For supplies, Mattawa is 43 km out. It is 196 km to Barrie, the nearest city. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Open biodiversity records for Nipissing District list smallmouth bass, cisco, yellow perch, pumpkinseed and rock bass. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Read Waymuk Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -13°C for January. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. In an average year the thaw lands around late April and the freeze near late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Waymuk Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Miskodee Lake at 1.1 km is the sensible second choice. For Waymuk Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
