Overcast skies today, with a busy W wind on the open water with a settled glass. Fish at Warnock Lake should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. If you must go, go in the evening. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Warnock Lake is one of the Algoma waters in Ontario. The bank is 203 metres above sea level. It measures about 37 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The full circuit measures close to 2.8 km on foot. It is low-lying compared with other Ontario water we list. Thessalon at 24 km is the nearest place to stop. Blind River is 26 km and Elliot Lake 50 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Survey and observation records for Algoma include walleye, northern pike and Iowa darter. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On Warnock Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Climate records put July near 19°C and January near -10°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Break-up comes around mid April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Climate figures give an open season running mid April to early December. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. The season on Warnock Lake follows the weather closely.
Public data does not answer the access question here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. You can camp 500 m off, which suits an early start. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Failing this one, try Clear Lake, 2.1 km away. For Warnock Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
