A bright day with hardly any cloud, with a proper ripple driven from the WNW and the barometer holding steady. Whatever swims in Vignette Lake should be near the weed line and any gaps in it. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast.

Look for Vignette Lake in Sudbury, Ontario. The bank is 420 metres above sea level. At about 11 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Around 1.6 km of margin, front to back. Our Sudbury list holds plenty of bigger water. Dowling lies 20 km from the water. Further out sit Rayside-Balfour (28 km) and Azilda (38 km). Not far off: Clear Lake at 1.2 km, Green Lake just 2.3 km, Division Lake at 2.4 km, Ferguson Lake just 2.6 km and Mud Lake at 2.7 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Sudbury records list smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch and Iowa darter among the fish reported. The county list is broader than any single water. On Vignette Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Climate records put July near 18°C and January near -14°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Expect Vignette Lake to follow that timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Sort the permit out before you load the car. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Failing this one, try Clear Lake, 1.2 km away. None of that is settled for Vignette Lake in what we hold.
