Passing showers with dry spells between, with air barely moving and no real change in pressure. Give windblown banks where food collects the first hour at Usnac Lake. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Usnac Lake is listed under Algoma, Ontario. The water sits 254 metres up. At 4.13 sq km this is proper open water rather than a pond. There is roughly 24 km of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. Size puts it in the front rank of our Algoma list. Kapuskasing lies 68 km from the water. Greater Sudbury sits 323 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Records held for Algoma cover walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter, yellow perch and white sucker. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. The near bank of Usnac Lake is often the one people ignore.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -18°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Plan around that when you fish Usnac Lake.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Graham Lake sits 4.2 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing on Usnac Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
