Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with almost no wind to speak of and steady pressure. Expect most activity at Tud Lake around the first drop-off and weed lines. The forecast is against you; the night is the least bad option. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Tud Lake lies in Timiskaming District, Ontario. The setting is mixed forest on every side. About 8 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Timiskaming District. Englehart sits 30 km from the bank. Temiskaming Shores is 46 km away, with Kirkland Lake at 50 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Records held for Timiskaming District cover brook trout, northern pike, yellow perch and Iowa darter. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Tud Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The seasonal spread runs -16°C to 18°C. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. The season between ice runs from about late April to mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Tud Lake.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Thin Lake at 1.2 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm before you fish Tud Lake.
