A mixed sky through the night, with a consistent blow out of the WNW with a settled glass. Activity on Treefrog Lake should centre on the shallows early and the drop later. The day fishes best from the day. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Treefrog Lake is one of the Nipissing District waters in Ontario. Height above sea level is 439 metres. It measures about 12 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The bank runs about 2.1 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. It is high ground by Ontario standards. You are 56 km from Huntsville. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Our records hold no depth for this water. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Nipissing District records list smallmouth bass, cisco, yellow perch, pumpkinseed and rock bass among the fish reported. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Treefrog Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -13°C on the long-run figures. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Treefrog Lake.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. You can camp about 500 m away, going by the mapping. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. If the gate is shut, He Lake at 1 km is the nearest alternative. Where Treefrog Lake is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
