Heavy overcast holding through the day, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface and steady pressure. Toorie Lake should fish best around windblown banks where food collects today. The numbers single out the evening. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

The Sudbury end of Ontario holds Toorie Lake. It stands 466 metres above sea level. At roughly 9 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. On size it sits at the modest end of our Sudbury list. The closest town, Chapleau, is 48 km distant. The nearest city of size is Greater Sudbury, 228 km away. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Fish documented in Sudbury include smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, Iowa darter and walleye. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Toorie Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
The seasonal spread runs -15°C to 16°C. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. On average, late April opens the water and mid November closes it again. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Anyone fishing Toorie Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Tam Lake sits 0.7 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing on Toorie Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
