Overcast skies today, with a firm NNE blow and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Teapot Lake is reed fringes and open pockets. The morning should out-fish the rest of the day. Small adjustments will matter more than big moves. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Teapot Lake is one of the Thunder Bay District waters in Ontario. The surroundings are spruce and muskeg. Surface area is around 38 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Around 4.0 km of margin, front to back. Start from Nipigon, 66 km down the road. Greenstone lies 90 km off, Geraldton another 105 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Thunder Bay District include cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt and bloater. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Teapot Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
The warm month here averages 16°C; the cold one sits at -18°C. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Teapot Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Paddy's Lake is 5 km off. Confirm before you fish Teapot Lake.
