In Ontario, Teal Lake falls inside Sudbury. Height above sea level is 434 metres. Surface area is around 29 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. With about 2.4 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Ontario listings. Chapleau at 57 km is the nearest place to stop. Beyond it, Wawa at 87 km and Sault Ste. Marie at 110 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Sudbury include smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, Iowa darter and walleye. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Anyone new to Teal Lake should walk it once before setting up.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -14°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. In an average year the thaw lands around late April and the freeze near mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. It holds true on Teal Lake more years than not.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Keelow Lake sits 0.9 km off and takes the overflow. None of that is settled for Teal Lake in what we hold.
