Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a gentle ripple from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Whatever swims in Tangent Bay should be near banks where bait gets pushed by the flow. One clear peak today: the evening. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Tangent Bay sits within Thunder Bay District in Ontario. It sits at 328 metres above sea level. Around 32 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. There is roughly 4.4 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Supplies mean a trip to Manitouwadge, 39 km off. Beyond it, Hornepayne at 58 km and Wawa at 113 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Reed and marsh margins hold fish through the moving hours. The mouth fishes hardest when the run is at its strongest. Species logged across Thunder Bay District include cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt, bloater and shortjaw cisco. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. The shape of Tangent Bay decides where the fish sit.
The warm month here averages 16°C; the cold one sits at -17°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Plan around that when you fish Tangent Bay.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Beverly Lake sits 4.2 km off and takes the overflow. Treat Tangent Bay as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
