Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Fish documented in Peterborough County include rock bass, pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and muskellunge. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Fish Silent Lake to its features, not to its size.

• Seasonal Patterns

Seasonal averages run from -10°C in January up to 19°C in July. Winter shuts the surface down for months. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough mid April. In an average year the thaw lands around mid April and the freeze near early December. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Silent Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
