Soft grey light all day today, with a useful WNW wind pushing food about and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Sharron Lake should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

The Kenora District entry here is Sharron Lake, in Ontario. It stands 375 metres above sea level. The water covers some 44 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Shoreline length is close to 5.1 km, and each section fishes a little differently. Sioux Lookout lies 27 km from the water. The nearest city of size is Thunder Bay, 267 km away. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. County-wide records name northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker and johnny darter. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Treat Sharron Lake as a water to read rather than to cover.
Averages move between -19°C in January and 18°C in July. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. From about late April to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Sharron Lake.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Bindo Lake, 4.3 km away. Nothing on Sharron Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
