A grey, even sky over the water, with a useful SW wind pushing food about and no real change in pressure. Start the search at Seymour Lake along points where shallow meets deep. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Seymour Lake lies in Northumberland County, Ontario. Rolling bush runs right down to the water. This is sizeable water at about 7.30 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. The outline measures near 53 km, so a boat opens up water the bank never reaches. It is the biggest water on our Northumberland County list. Campbellford is the closest town at 8.5 km. Further out sit Norwood (14 km) and Marmora (15 km). The county line runs close by, so rules can change within a short drive.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Reported across Northumberland County: rock bass, johnny darter, pumpkinseed and smallmouth bass. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. At Seymour Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Averages move between -9°C in January and 20°C in July. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around mid April. The season between ice runs from about mid April to early December. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Seymour Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping shows a jetty some 450 m off. You can camp 560 m off, which suits an early start. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Crowe Bay, 4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm access to Seymour Lake locally before you travel.
