Overcast skies today, with a proper ripple driven from the WSW and pressure sitting still. The fish at Second Lake are likely to sit near the shaded margin through bright spells. The numbers single out the evening. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

In Ontario, Second Lake falls inside Parry Sound District. It stands 203 metres above sea level. It runs to roughly 26 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Bank access stretches around 2.6 km in total. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Ontario listings. Parry Sound sits 16 km from the bank. For a city, Barrie is 98 km off. This one is safely inside the county line.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Open biodiversity records for Parry Sound District list smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, yellow perch, northern pike and rock bass. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Second Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Climate records put July near 19°C and January near -10°C. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. Break-up comes around mid April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Climate figures give an open season running mid April to early December. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. The season on Second Lake follows the weather closely.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Third Lake sits 1.2 km off and takes the overflow. Confirm before you fish Second Lake.
