Overcast skies today, with dead-still conditions and no real change in pressure. The fish at Rowe Lake are likely to sit near inflow corners and shaded margins. The day fishes best from afternoon into evening. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Kenora District entry here is Rowe Lake, in Ontario. Height above sea level is 399 metres. At some 1.52 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. At about 12 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. For a base, Red Lake sits 70 km out. It is 341 km to Winnipeg, the nearest city. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Kenora District records list northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker and johnny darter among the fish reported. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Rowe Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -20°C for January. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Rowe Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Lost Bay is 8.4 km off. What applies at Rowe Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
