Ronny Lake near Kenora: Fishing Spots, Seasons and Access

• Overview

  The Kenora District end of Ontario holds Ronny Lake. It sits at 370 metres above sea level. Roughly 76 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The edge covers about 9.9 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. For supplies, Kenora is 27 km out. Then Vermilion Bay, 64 km, and Dryden, 111 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.

• Where to Fish on Ronny Lake

  Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name northern pike, longnose sucker and white sucker.   July runs about 19°C on average, January about -18°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Ice is part of the season here, ending near late April.
