Glare on the water under a clear sky, with the water lying quiet with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Revell Lake is windblown banks where food collects. The useful hours run the day. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Revell Lake is one of the Kenora District waters in Ontario. The bank is 447 metres above sea level. At 5.40 sq km this is proper open water rather than a pond. The shoreline runs to about 38 km, far more than one trip can cover. It ranks high for size among our Kenora District listings. Start from Ignace, 28 km down the road. Dryden is 64 km away, with Sioux Lookout at 71 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Kenora District records list northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker, johnny darter and logperch among the fish reported. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Revell Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
Typical July readings run about 18°C; by January the average is down near -18°C. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. On Revell Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. East Revell Lake at 2.6 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing here settles the position at Revell Lake for certain.
