A closed sky with even light today, with a light chop building from the W and pressure going nowhere. Activity on Rawluk Lake should centre on the shallows early and the drop later. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Rawluk Lake belongs to Thunder Bay District, Ontario. Around the bank it is taiga. At about 21 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The bank runs about 2.7 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Manitouwadge is the closest place, 18 km off. Hornepayne is 61 km away, with Longlac at 100 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt and bloater. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Rawluk Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Temperature averages peak at 16°C in July and bottom out at -18°C in January. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. It sets the rhythm of the year at Rawluk Lake.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. A light spinning outfit with a small box of lures and some bait covers most of what swims here. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Macutagon Ponds at 1.8 km is the nearest alternative. For Rawluk Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
