Solid cloud cover today, with a whisper of wind from the W with the barometer flat. Start the search at Ramhill Lake along the calm side of the wind. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Ramhill Lake is one of the Sudbury waters in Ontario. It sits at 419 metres above sea level. Roughly 18 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The whole outline is near 3.9 km, and most of it is walkable. The nearest place of any size is Chapleau, 25 km away. Further out sit Wawa (87 km) and Hornepayne (159 km). No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. County-wide records name smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, Iowa darter and walleye. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Ramhill Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Averages here run 16°C at the top of summer and -16°C at the bottom of winter. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. At Ramhill Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Buckram Lake, 1.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Ramhill Lake as something to verify.
