Open sky and sharp air tonight, with flat calm through the day and steady pressure. Pyatt Lake should fish best around bays that hold the day's warmth today. The strongest window is the middle of the day. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Set in Kenora District, Ontario, this is Pyatt Lake. The bank is 420 metres above sea level. With some 15 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Around 2.1 km of margin, front to back. On size it sits at the modest end of our Kenora District list. Supplies mean a trip to Ignace, 41 km off. The big place round here is Thunder Bay, 251 km distant. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. County-wide records name northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker and johnny darter. The county list is broader than any single water. On Pyatt Lake a short move beats a long cast.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Count the season from break-up, usually late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly mid November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. The season on Pyatt Lake rarely departs from it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. The nearest alternative is Hyndman Lake, 8.4 km out. What applies at Pyatt Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
