Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with flat calm through the day with the glass holding level. Most of the action on Pogo Lake should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. Expect the better fishing from afternoon into evening. Give the likely spots time before moving. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Pogo Lake sits in Kenora District, out in Ontario. Elevation runs to 450 metres. Surface area is around 35 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. With 7.2 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Ontario listings. The closest town, Atikokan, is 43 km distant. After that come Ignace at 56 km and Sioux Lookout at 130 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
We hold no depth figure for this one. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. County-wide records name northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker and johnny darter. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Pogo Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
The year swings from about -18°C in January to roughly 18°C in July. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly mid November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Plan any trip to Pogo Lake around it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Galbraith Lake sits 1.6 km off and takes the overflow. Check the position on Pogo Lake before loading the car.
