Solid cloud cover today, with a working SW breeze with the barometer flat. The fish at Perch Lake are likely to sit near windblown banks where food collects. Quiet conditions all day, with the evening marginally better. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

The Greater Sudbury entry here is Perch Lake, in Ontario. The bank is 243 metres above sea level. Around 28 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The edge runs 3.1 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Nearest town is Lively, 21 km off. Beyond it, Dowling at 22 km and Rayside-Balfour at 29 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Greater Sudbury include smallmouth bass, yellow perch, northern pike, pumpkinseed and rock bass. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Take Perch Lake a stretch at a time.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -13°C for January. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Perch Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. The nearest alternative is May Lake, 3.1 km out.
