The Thunder Bay District end of Ontario holds Ped Lake. Elevation runs to 487 metres. Small at around 4 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Thunder Bay District. Nipigon lies 43 km from the water. Thunder Bay sits 143 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Survey and observation records for Thunder Bay District include cisco, blackfin cisco and rainbow smelt. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -19°C in January. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. On Ped Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Should this one be busy, Purva Lake is 2.3 km off. Ask locally about Ped Lake if anything is unclear.
