Rain colouring the margins today, with stillness over the whole water and steady pressure. The water to cover at Park Lake is bays that hold the day's warmth. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Cochrane District end of Ontario holds Park Lake. The bank is 269 metres above sea level. At roughly 10 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Shoreline comes to about 1.8 km, small enough to learn in a day. Supplies mean a trip to Cochrane, 22 km off. Greater Sudbury is the closest city, 301 km away. This one is safely inside the county line.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Reported across Cochrane District: northern pike, yellow perch, white sucker and Iowa darter. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Park Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -19°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Anyone fishing Park Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is a mapped landing stage 130 m away. Overnight stays are possible 220 m away. Picnic facilities are recorded some 390 m out. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Blue Lake, 0.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Park Lake for certain.
