Glare on the water under a clear sky, with hardly a ripple anywhere with the glass holding level. Fish at Pake Lake should hold close to the weed line and any gaps in it. The best of it runs morning through afternoon. Small adjustments will matter more than big moves. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Look for Pake Lake in the Lennox and Addington County part of Ontario. The bank is 305 metres above sea level. It covers about 8 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. The nearest town is Bancroft, 45 km away. Kingston is the closest city, 112 km away. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Lennox and Addington County, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, rock bass, smallmouth bass, bluegill and yellow perch. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Pake Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
Typical July readings run about 18°C; by January the average is down near -12°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. The open-water window runs from around late April to about early December in an average year. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Pake Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. For a change of water, Vantassel Lake is 1.8 km distant. None of that is settled for Pake Lake in what we hold.
