Damp, showery conditions today, with a gentle ripple from the SSE with a settled glass. Most of the action on Nogies Lake should come off the seam between weed and open water. The day holds up well from the day. Work the productive water thoroughly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Out in Haliburton County, Ontario, sits Nogies Lake. The setting is lake country bush on every side. It measures about 34 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. A shoreline of some 3.4 km keeps the choices simple. The nearest place of any size is Haliburton Village, 26 km away. It is 106 km to Barrie, the nearest city. The boundary is close enough to be worth checking before you fish.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Haliburton County include smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, rock bass, yellow perch and lake trout. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. On Nogies Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Expect July near 19°C and January near -10°C on the long-run figures. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Ice is part of the season here, ending near mid April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about mid April until roughly early December. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. The season on Nogies Lake rarely departs from it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try White Lake, 1.6 km away. For Nogies Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
