Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a persistent wind from the WNW and pressure sitting still. The fish at Nadon Lake are likely to sit near the shallows early and the drop later. The productive run goes the day. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Nadon Lake lies within the bounds of Nipissing District, Ontario. It lies 394 metres above sea level. With some 15 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The full circuit measures close to 1.8 km on foot. For supplies, Mattawa is 34 km out. Then Deep River, 65 km, and Chalk River, 70 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Records held for Nipissing District cover smallmouth bass, cisco, yellow perch and pumpkinseed. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Fish Nadon Lake to its features, not to its size.
The warm month here averages 18°C; the cold one sits at -13°C. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Climate figures give an open season running late April to late November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. The season on Nadon Lake rarely departs from it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. If the gate is shut, Tower Lake at 1 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing here settles the position at Nadon Lake for certain.
